WHO WE ARE
Block 10 (Gulf of Kyparissiakos)
Regarding the offshore area (Block 10) of Ionian Sea, in the Gulf of Kyparissiakos, HELLENiQ UPSTREAM ΚYPARISSIAKOS S.A. (100% operator) owns exclusively hydrocarbons exploration and exploitation rights for the in the offshore area of Kyparissiakos Gulf (Block 10). The Lease Agreement was ratified by the Greek Parliament on October 10th of 2019 (Act of Law 4630/10.10.2019).
ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES AND PROGRAMS
Visual monitoring for marine mammals takes place by specially trained, experienced and certified Marine Mammal Observers (MMOs) throughout the activities of marine geophysical surveys. The main object of MMO is the continuous monitoring and the possible appearance and behavior of marine mammals throughout the duration of the research.
Long-term Specialization
On a daily basis, specialized scientific staff observes the wider area within a radius of 2 km from the research vessel, for the possible presence of marine mammals while during the night with special instruments monitors and records the sounds of marine life and the seabed in order to timely identification of species in need of protection and immediate cessation of work in accordance with international protocols and good practice.
